I was born in Canada and came to Australia in 1987. I only started sketching and painting in late 2018, although I was creative in other areas. Originally, I had a career as a singer/songwriter which took me around the world until I landed here. My first job was singing on a cruise ship where I met my husband. What started off as a joke (I asked the Officers if any one of them would marry me so I could get my citizenship and stay in Australia, and one of them said he would!) which led to us getting married within 3 months and here we are - still together and enjoying life and each other - after 35+ years!
I started travel sketching in late 2018 – initially taking lessons from Erin Hill Studios and Toni Brown Art and quickly took to acrylics as well as watercolours to express my love of the creation around us. There is so much inspiration from the Sydney area and the Northern Beaches especially, and my palette glows with the blues and greens of the land and sea! |

In 2019, I made large canvas prints of my watercolour sketches of the Manly area and quickly sold the colourful collection to a local GP. In 2020 and 2021 I was selected to be the in-house artist for Bosk Restaurant in Clontarf with my artwork adorning the walls of the beach-side venue. In 2021, I was featured in the online exhibition of Art Directory Australia.
In 2022, I became part of Northern Beaches Creatives Directory with a website and Instagram account. Also in 2022, I was part of the DiversARTy Gallery Land & Sea art exhibition, and again at their 5-year birthday celebration. In 2022 I was a finalist in the Doyles Art Prize in Queensland where my artwork - Storm A Comin' - sold. In 2022, as part of the Dreams2Live4 Auction and exhibition, Sunset Surfer was sold for the charity. Early January 2023, I decided to try my hand at oil painting and have loved the textures and flexibility of creating in oils. My first showing in oils was at the Curl Curl Creative Space for the Where We Live Exhibition. Also, adding to my creative journey, has been a foray into abstracts – creating a number of interesting pieces. In November 2023, I was a finalist in the Northern Beaches Gallery inaugural Summer Exhibition Art Prize. During 2023, my artwork was also exhibited at boutique venues in Manly – State of Mind and Art Needs A Heart To Be Art. In 2024 I started working with Mike Lamble and my oil paintings have just come alive. I was a finalist in the Doyles Art Prize and the Australian Artists Award 2024 and am currently exhibiting in Manly and Northern Beaches Gallery. Here are some examples of my sketches, watercolours, and acrylics. These artworks are inspired by what I see around me. The world is beautiful & my hope is that my artwork will produce the same inviting expression of awe, peacefulness and immersion in you and your home, office or venue as it does when I am creating them for you. |
